Biography

![]() Described as one of Britain's most beautiful and cultured basses, Richard Robson studied at the Guildhall School of Music, The London Opera Centre and voice with Walter Grüner and Otakar Kraus. Since his debut with Glyndebourne Festival Opera, he went onto gain international acclaim singing major roles in the UK and abroad with Scottish Opera, Glyndebourne Festival, The Royal Opera, Teatro dell'Opera di Roma, Teatro de San Carlo (Naples), Teatro Regio (Turin), Nederlands Opera, Munich, Vienna and Norway appearing also with Schönbrunn, Edinburgh, Leon, Savonlinna and Wexford Festivals, singing such roles as Banquo, Zaccaria, Sparafucile, Ramfis, Gremin, Rocco, Caspar, Raimondo, Colline, Swallow, Bottom, Bartolo, Tales of Hoffman, Arkel, Don Basilio and The Commendatore. While at the Wexford Festival, he played the role of Il Cieco (from Mascagni's "Iris") with such distinction, he was invited to repeat the role with Gianluigi Gelmetti, Jose Cura and Daniella Dessi at the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma, Teatro Regio Torino and with the Munich Philharmonic Orchestra, broadcast nationwide on Bavarian Radio and RAI (Radiotelevisione Italiana) Radio.

He devotes his time now to the development of young and promising singers and is much in demand not only for established professionals, but for beginners from the varying world of Operatic, Musical and Popular song and who, along with his wife, Arlene Randazzo, organises masterclasses and seminars for singers.
